I totally get this. And the frantic flow state I end up in trying to recover from a problem... Hours vanish. It's an extremely unproductive use of time. And being a Linux user gives me the freedom to fuck things up at a rate Windows users can only dream. These days I make sure I only make changes to my system when I can genuinely afford the time to fix my mistakes.
Thankfully I have not had a backup fail me yet.

@Denny I agree with you about micro.blog discovery. The emojis-as-tags thing is more-or-less useless as there is only a handful, and the main discovery feed is one-size-fits-all and curated by one person, which seems to favour trivial and inoffensive platitudes rather than anything substantial or challenging. I hardly ever find new blogs to follow on micro.blog.
I might try the tab-group workflow for following blogs; I use RSS which is great, especially on mobile, but I do miss seeing the nice site designs and so on. I think Cory Doctorow has mentioned he follows website by having a huge tab group he opens each morning.

@jsonbecker I'd say search monopoly is not without problems as it makes Google into the sole gatekeeper between publishers and audiences

I ended up voting Lib Dem despite not being a supporter. Mainly a protest against Labour on Gaza, but Lib Dems were the right tactical vote as well. They were a strong 2nd, Labour 4th. Shows how wrong MRP can be – Labour didn’t campaign here at all, parachuted a candidate in. MRP doesn’t see this.
