@tinyroofnail the pop psychology of “All You Need Is Love” is a bit much for me too… i require an appreciation of the spiritual and, in particular, a recognition of the sacred… for me this is an approach to the world one can choose and there are any number of ways to access these things if one is willing to develop a devotional practice… Buddhism is the religion i can probably most embrace for that purpose… bell hooks, by the way, has much more in mind in her exploration of what love is and what it can and should do than the Beatles…

Money continues to roll in. Since Biden’s announcement, Harris and the Democrats have raised about $250 million in donations and pledges. More than 888,000 were from small-dollar donors. Volunteers are also joining the Harris campaign, which said that more than 28,000 people have signed up to work on the campaign in the day since Biden passed the torch. @odd not feeling bad:)… i enjoy our exchanges… it feels to me like you are working out what your style will be… i encourage you to do what feels true to your self… that’s what i am doing… i am nervous presenting feminine sometimes… i am careful about where i present in full feminine mode, as i call it… there are places i just wouldn’t take that presentation… the town i live in is progressive liberal, though there are MAGA types around… the surrounding county has a lot of MAGA people… even within town there are places i wouldn’t take my feminine presentation… pretty much all the clothing i have now is women’s clothing, but i have selected many garments that read either as masculine or feminine depending on what i accessorize it with… a pair of black jeans and one of my tunic like tops, no makeup, and i am in masculine territory… my overall intent is to walk back and forth over the not very distinct line between masculine and feminine… i am not presently interested in passing as a woman…
@Contrariwise yes, i found the book centering in all kinds of ways, like being lovingly honest in all relationships. I will read it at least once again before the election. I also keep copies on hand to give to people. I take them as gifts when invited to dinner. I am about to send a copy to my mother, brother and sister. It's a book i think everyone could benefit from.
@lzbth in Feminist Theory: Margins to Center, she stresses how important it is to write plainly in language everyone can understand, something she does in FT and All About Love. I found AAL so centering that i have bought a bunch of extra copies to give to friends and family. My way of helping the conversations we need to have be centered and fruitful.

@odd it takes courage to don feminine forward clothing as a man. I live in a pretty progressive community and have been received pretty well in this transition. I also love the clothing options that are opening up to me. I wore my linen maxi dress (which is very kaftan like) over the weekend and i have to tell you it was an extremely comfortable garment to wear.
With 39-year-old Ohio senator J.D. Vance now their vice presidential nominee, it will be tempting for Republicans to push Trump out of the presidential slot.

… i used to think that if we had many more women in positions of power the world would automatically get better… Marjorie Taylor Green and Lauren Bobert taught me to be careful what i wish for… i now know that it’s integrity and a feminine way of embracing the world that is important… women are more likely to be able to do that, but they are also quite capable of full throttled pursuit of patriarchal norms… men are also capable of bringing a feminine approach to the world, but not as easily… i am not arguing there is no room for masculine engagement with the world, just that we are way out of balance… we need rebalancing…
