We Need "AGI" More than Apple Intelligence! - Stager-to-Go:
Apple needs to resurrect HyperCard for the iPad, the freakin’ hardware built for the software that preceded it.
I love Gary Stager.

@aleen I'm sorry. I hate this too. I don't receive anywhere near this amount, but this is a unique form of evil.

Finished Tokyo Vice yesterday. Not without problems, but the interwoven stories showing the relationship of each level of society to the yakuza were excellent. I really enjoyed it overall.
Kazuya Tanabe as Yabuki and Shun Sugata as Ishida were standout performances for me.

Robin Rendle — The computer is a feeling:
Everything behind glass here was pushing towards a future they couldn’t see, but they had to feel instead.
Such a beautiful reflection on a visit to the Computer History Museum, a place I have only been to once but sits high on my list of favorite places ever. I felt it when I walked into the Wikipedia room.

@goblingumbo They rule! Check out Unleash the Archers too if you are flirting with power metal and the nerdier side of metal.

@kayserifserif Check out pika.page. This is a great newer simple site builder. I have tried every one mentioned in this post and this is where I'm landing.

First hearing about Readwise:
“eh, I’ll try it.. what could it hurt?”
After a year of using Readwise:
“how and why did I ever read anything before?”

@chartier It appears to be jargon of the job in policing vs. slang in other areas of reporting that are not directly related to police. I found a Wikipedia article on Beat (police), but it doesn't get too deep into etymology.

Learning ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi in a way that is clicking. I am working my way through ‘Ōlelo ʻŌiwi by Hōkūlani Cleeland, a founding member of Pūnana Leo. This is the first textbook that feels modern and treats learners as adults. I’m also relying on Anki for vocab memorization. That is working great too.

“Night Hula” by Jean Charlot is a mosaic at UH-Mānoa that I just found. I love his work so much. It is all over Honolulu, but it always stops me in my tracks.

New Vitesse X is so good. I love that quirky, cute little solo in the middle and the end. Simultaneously fresh and nostalgic.

Send to Kindle – We've long resisted adding a Send to Kindle feature because highlights you make on sideloaded Kindle documents don't automatically sync to Readwise. (You need to manually import them.) That said, user demand has ultimately won us over.
Finally! I can’t wait for this. Literally that last missing piece to making this the perfect read-it-later.

“I Enjoy Being a Guy” is my dad’s favorite episode of any of the Bob Newhart TV shows. He would be in tears from laughing every time we watched it together, and I hope it can bring some joy to you as well.

@cabel I saw this on a demo machine at a university bookstore today and, at first glance, thought it was a student project.

Haven’t watched Finn McKenty in a while, but his video about 90s hardcore and the politics and ideas they were tackling at the time was perfect. Taking ideas to their logical end has always been where my beliefs go and has left me with some very radical politics that I often have to hide to fit in.

@barrysampson Oh, I can't wait to read that.
I just went to the last day of an edtech conference, the first in a couple of years, and I forgot how excited many of my fellow teachers get about new toys in the space.
I want to preach the gospel of trailing edge without being smug.

@goblingumbo Thank you so much for the detailed test of the device. I have a DAP right now, but it is only that and doesn't work for podcasts. I usually use wired headphones so I know I would need that a USB-C to 3.5mm. I also don't know Android and everything I have is .m4a. Thank you again for testing it all out and reporting back. I am so grateful!

@goblingumbo I am interested in it replacing my aging iPod Touch. I don't use any music streaming services, do you have any experience using it as an mp3 player?
