I'm Pratik. I live in Austin. I typically post photos and post personal and work-related updates, especially travel. I offer my opinions on Internet trends and media, talk about TV and movies I watch, share books I read or want to read, rant on right-wing politics, and advocate for inclusion and diversity in all facets of life.

Too bad about the Mastodon login. I assumed that would be the most popular choice.

Regardless of what you think of big corporations and especially Adobe, that Delta Emulator app logo was literally the same but in a different color. I’m with Adobe on the cease-n-desist.

@JohnPhilpin I made a very brief and cryptic micropost about that E6 ending but didn't see anyone discussing it on Micro.blog or on the Mastodon instance I post to. The last episode (E8) is out and we plan to watch it tonight so can discuss more after that

@Munish A smallish mirror-less camera ought to do the trick. You can always shoot with the P mode most of the time but have the option to crank it up if you feel like it. Weight was the biggest factor for me when I was shopping for one. After waiting forever for Fuji X100V, I went with the Nikon z fc. But it's still not more convenient than just shooting with your phone.

@jsonbecker I see that hence my original comment about this feature being for people who land on my blog/site from a non-Micro.blog source. I don't mind the 'Sign in with Micro.blog' to evangelize Micro.blog although I hope that onboarding process is better. Sign in with Mastodon/Bluesky may look familiar so that's great.

I disagree about not commenting on comments. I or someone will want to at least respond to a comment. Only One level threading would suffice and prevent people from arguing ad nauseum on your post and if they still chose to, it will be distinct enough to know what that thead was. But then again, I understand the need to keep it simple.

Avatar

@pratik

@Munish By point and shoot, do you mean no fussing around with controls at all or do you mean simply a more portable small-sized camera?

Avatar

Pratik
@pratik

@jsonbecker This one? Yes, that's what I meant. But if you are replying to people who have commented on posts on your blog then you have to type out their name. Or if you are replying to someone other than the author on a post on their blog.

@Miraz I would switch to reader view too but I like to see the different designs of websites and view them as they intended them to. But some like Daring Fireball, I would never read on even the browser

Avatar

@manton Arc. Never mind. It might be Arc-specific. Worked in the same window on Safari. I'm guessing this feature is for non-Micro.blog visitors to your blog. Ones on Micro.blog are better off using the 'Reply on Micro.blog' plugin button.

I finally did it. I increased the default font size of my browser on my laptop. For some pinned websites, I’ve even set it to 125%

@toddgrotenhuis Kinda all of the above. The mention of the book comes much later. It's more about the unmasking of the Ray Dalio myth/legend

@manton Love the new features. Minor quibble - when I sign in with Micro.blog, it opens a new window but refreshing the older one doesn't show me signed in. Is that intentional?

Avatar

Pratik
@pratik

@jsonbecker @manton That's a good idea. Perhaps something along the lines of 'show/hide all' by default and then you promote/hide select ones.

Look what arrived in the mail just in time for the Analog Tools virtual meetup today.

A yellow-framed smartphone displays a colorful elephant illustration, showing the time 4:51 on a wood surface A yellow smartphone case with a physical keyboard and instructional graphic lies on a dark surface. The text instructs how to connect the keyboard: “When inserting/removing the iPhone from the keyboard, keep the phone straight - don’t tilt or twist. Plug the iPhone into ports from the lightning… not to bend the pins. Upwards for at lightning port until fully disconnected.” A tri-fold pamphlet presents an iPhone device attachment with instructions and keyboard shortcuts. Text details steps for installation, basic functions, and specific command outcomes for app use.

Complete destruction of Gaza’s buildings and infrastructure. The routine murder of journalists and aid workers. The forced starvation of Gaza’s people. A plan to continue doing all this in Rafah with no apparent goal other than bloody revenge. And all of it without even a rhetorical pretense that Israel gives a shit about 21st century humanitarian concerns in the slightest way." I agree with Kevin Drum here. We’ve passed by this mural in East Austin several times (it’s on the way from my son’s school) but haven’t stopped to take a photo. So yesterday while grabbing dinner nearby, I did.

A colorful mosaic mural depicting musicians playing various instruments and a scene with people working together. The artwork blends vivid hues and geometric patterns, with trees and buildings in the background. The mural is signed by artists John Sancey, Luis G. Alicea

A brown and white dog lies on the floor, resting its chin and paws down, looking attentive. Soft furnishings in the background.

We have a new foster - Phoebe. The owner surrendered her after 4 years because she kept getting into a fight with an older dog over a new puppy they got. So I guess, she got the short straw ☹️ To be fair, the owner was distraught, very weepy, and sad when they dropped her off.
