As for the fediverse handle, is there a way to notify followers of the move like mastodon and friendica? My main handle is actually @starrwulfe so I'm hoping most people follow me there, but I was contemplating moving everything under my own domain here...

@numericcitizen I want to take a look-see and check this out myself. My AWseries3 (!) broke in early 2023 and I've been watchless ever since. Anything will be a step up for me, but I want to see if it's worth my while for the 10 vs the 9...

OK I can work with that for now-- I am still in the throes of trying to import my current microblog into micro.blog and need some help please:

1. I've imported an XML file for posts from starrwulfe.xyz to the new temp blog here at starrwulfe-test.micro.blog (when this is all transferred, I'll ​transfer the domain and make it the new starrwulfe.xyz). The posts are showing up but the importer isn't downloading and rehosting the media files; they're still served off of my VPS. How can I fix that?

2. At some point I need to figure out how to either change the fediverse handle here from @starrwulfe​ to @starrwulfe. Can this be done? ​

I have two questions before I try and migrate starrwulfe.xyz over here because it also has its own fediverse account @starrwulfe:

1. Is there just one fediverse account per microblog account or is it per blog? So if I migrate my other site over here, can I have both abc.starrwulfe.xyz and starrwulfe.xyz or do I need to pick one?

2. Can the BridgyFed fediverse bridge be used by following @bsky.brid.gy with microblog fediverse accounts to talk with Bluesky?

@manton yep, I'm not seeing an invite anywhere, even in Instagram where sometimes things land over there.

more precedent for symbols changing their meanings and use cases over time.

• @ and # meant very different things before the internet was a thing.

• $ is well known in front of numbers, but there's a few companies using it to denote symbols for trading currency and digital usernames for doing such.

• ​If you code, then $ ! = & % all have different meanings depending on language.

I think ⁂ could work, looks good and ​is already in the fallback fonts on most systems.

... I'm gonna use ⁂Fediverse everywhere. It looks like a brandmark and doesn't require anything special to get it to show up.

@evan Yeah I assumed this -- I do a catchall and a filtering system with the + and . on my email address since my provider has the functionality.

(I think it's a pretty cool feature that's a tad underused. I have all my newsletters get routed and resent to my Omnivore address this way for example.)​
