The UGOOS box has an Amlogic S922X-J under the hood, which has hardware-level support for every codec under the sun, and uniquely supports Dolby Vision Profile 7 FEL, making it even better than my Zidoo. CoreELEC is Kodi, which is complicated, but once you finish setting it up, it is very nice to use.
In my quest for maximizing A/V quality in my theater, I've been using a Zidoo Z9X to play movies and shows from my collection. It produces excellent quality, but the UX is awful, it doesn't have Plex, and its slow and janky. Luckily I found a better option: CoreELEC and an Ugoos AM6 Plus.
I wasn’t particularly fond of LOTR: Rings of Power in its first season. While pretty, the writing and pacing let it down. I’m pleasantly surprised by season two thus far.
Finished another openHASP touch control plate today, this time for the great room. First time using the color picker, and it’s pretty cool to be able to change the color of the lighting with a touch.

Playing a game on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean just a week ago may have taken its toll a bit. Hopefully Tech can be more consistent.
The score looks pretty good in this Tech game, and there have been some great moments, but the overall performance is sus as hell. Especially on defense. Oh, and tons of stupid penalties.
@skoobz that is the plan. Team looks phenomenal. I haven’t seen talent like this on a Miami team since the early 2000’s. Now if we can just avoid stupid coaching errors and stay healthy…

After over a year since my wife began her cancer journey, today she completed her final visit to the chemotherapy clinic, ringing the ceremonial bell with the family. We can now say that she has kicked cancer right in its stupid, stupid ass. I am so happy and grateful that this chapter is over. 🙏🤟

Finished watching “Shōgun” last night. What a fantastic show! I love how deftly they highlighted the cultural divide between eastern and western culture, especially as it relates to loyalty, life and death, and personal sacrifice.
Finally got around to starting “Shōgun.” Really impressed!
@manton it looks great. I wish more literary properties would go the animated route. Costs are lower and you can go all-in on story as anything is possible visually. I hoped that Silo would go animated, but thankfully Apple isn’t being stingy on budget. An animated Snow Crash would be incredible!

@jean same here! I typically can’t handle too much gore or disturbing content, but they mix in so many laughs, and the violence is so over the top that it sorta just works. I do think Homelander’s visit to the lab last week was… too much.

@jarrod Ted Lasso did a very good job of capturing anxiety as well, it just did it from a different angle. Unsurprisingly, given the title of the movie, Inside Out focused on the internal aspects of anxiety while Lasso was more concerned with the external impacts.
@pratik I haven't looked at that project in ages, but if I remember correctly, its a combination of JavaScript that loads client-side and a small amount of backend code that I have running in AWS Lambda. Because of how Micro.blog works, I do think that it would be possible to do everything in JavaScript, but its not something I have time to work on. If you're comfortable with reading/writing code, you could certainly use what I have written as a starting point.

The good news is that so many of the hype-y use cases can use small, low cost, energy efficient models with open training sets today.
