@val
July 24, 2024 - helped my family make manti the other day by putting the formed manti into the steamers. I apparently did a bad job of this because we had to squeeze a lot onto each steamer layer 😂

@val
@johnpeterharvey ooh, this id a cool picture!

@val
July 23, 2024 - sprinkler in the small garden in front of my host family’s house. They water these plants a lot (including in the middle of the day, when most Americans would say it’s not a good use of water) and then I remembered that it’s quite dry here

July 19, 2024 - sports field in my village. I came here yesterday because it’s one of the only places in my villages with benches. Unfortunately, the road where I took the photo from is very busy, with cars driving from the village to the fields and back, so I didn’t stay long

@val
@odd I didn't originally think of changing fire extinguishers as 'a luxury', but that's a good point
valerie
@val
@odd Is there a sand container like this in schools in your country? Despite being cold here in winter, I think our roads aren't affected by ice much, considering most of them are dirt roads. Also we have very dry winters here and get very little snow

@val
July 18, 2024 - a container with sand (and trash) at my school to put out fires. Does anyone have this at their schools? There was at least one fire extinguisher above this. My boyfriend said the sand is in case the fire extinguisher doesn’t work..

July 17, 2024 - (unripe) sea buckthorn. It grows in the mountains around here. Hopefully they are ready to eat by late August 😁

@z428 This is not far from the village where I live. Outside temperatures in the area have been in the range of 12-25°C lately

@bapsi I agree that you can't expect to fully and completely learn a language with only Duolingo! (by the way, if anyone on this thread wants Duolingo friends, I'm hiimval, feel free to add me! 😁)

@val
July 14, 2024 - stadium at Ormon Khan Park. The park and stadium opened last year, and I’m surprised at the state of the stadium, particularly the bleachers with grass growing between the rows. It looks neglected or abandoned to me…if you’re going to build something, why not have people use it?

@odd The weather changes quickly here in the mountains. it was a little warm at first, but then a storm blew through south of where we were. We didn't get a lot of rain at the field, but it hid the sun and cooled down the area. Then after the storm passed, it got warmer again. Luckily, that was about the time we finished. It was harder work than I thought 😅 I'm feeling sore today because of it

@val
July 13, 2024 - yesterday’s picnic lunch. I went with my host mom, sister and cousin to pick weeds in a family friend’s potato field

@val
@bluecaravan Thanks for sharing, this was a good story

@val
@herself I often take screenshots of the nonsense I find on Duolingo. A recent one from Russian Duolingo was, "My deer does not read the newspaper anymore"

@val
July 12, 2024 - with such dry winters, it’s been really surprising to see how much it rains here in summer. and the weather changes very quickly. at least there are some perks to the rain 🌈
