We visited cousin Richard and Karen in Mackay. Walked the art trail and had a nice lunch at their place.

Sunset at Bird’s Cafe in Bowen. Nice feed of fish, chips, calamari and scallops — minus one that a seagull swooped down and grabbed from the table. Guess that’s why it’s called Bird’s.

Driving in Queensland you pass endless fields of sugar cane and banana that get bagged up on the tree.

Impossible to capture this massive Curtain Fig tree in a photo. Worth the sidetrack to stand in it’s presence. Chris gave us several ideas for the route through the Atherton Tablelands.

We visited Chris and Marjorie in Kuranda. J and J were good friends with Chris 40 some years ago when we all lived in Guelph. We had a fabulous time reminiscing and catching up at their amazing home.

@cliffordbeshers So they get drunk? Well, that explains their partying. Usually see them in mobs when the berries are on. And in winter they’re only ones eating highbush cranberries, which you’d have to be drunk to eat

@Denny Nice. I love the little plants, as I try to understand them they prove elusive and a source of the kind of mystery the wilds are full of and a source of my integration with their open intelligence

@johnjohnston this is great and along the line of what I’ve started, only with photos on my daily walk here, occasionally a poetic muse I hope to build on. I saw one day “nothing noticed”… must have been a tough day

@Denny ya, I was blown away when I found this log of maple I’d dragged away when a storm flattened it. I’m going to keep an eye on it, wondering how the shrooms will make out in the cold
