As I wait for Copa America to start, I want to look at South America. In Google Maps, with search … easy. In Apple Maps, I gave up trying to do it using search terms.

@dwalbert A shop that periodically floods is just miserable, I had that situation in my old shop. The leg vise is what I'm after too, I have a homemade Moxon vise, but I'd love to have something I didn't have to set up each time I need it. Still, the Nicholson bench is supremely flexible to hack, as you say. I've installed an end vise, a pop up bench stop, and a solution to hold my chisels and some other tools on the back edge.

@dynamitemoth If you want to host it and they log in to it to view your videos, something like a Synology or a raspberry pi with Plex server would do the job.

@dynamitemoth A lightweight Linux distribution might be an option. I have Elementary OS running nicely on a 2009 MacBook, it’s a decent choice if they are familiar with Mac OS. For a Windows-like distro, Mint is an worth a try.

@manton Thanks for your continued work — I was convinced to upgrade to the Premium plan this month. It’s really quite a bargain.

Avatar

@manton But it would work for me and my wife to have separated accounts with the family plan, I assume. Which still seems like a really good deal, considering all that's included in premium. I'm eager to try the bookmarking and notes.

Avatar

@manton This sounds great. So I’m clear, I have an account and my wife has account so we pay $10/mo now. If I’m understanding this correctly, we could not consolidate with the $10 micro.blog premium plan, since we have separate accounts (i.e., the only multi-user plan is $15 family). Is that correct?

Working on a project to build a couple of utility room shelves using big box store poplar, which is proving to be a fun hand tool challenge. The top shelf is joined with dovetails, the bottom shelf ends are 3/8" dados with through-tenons that will have cherry wedges. Tools used: rip saw, carcase saw, route... forestriver.rocks

@dwalbert Thanks! Old Brown Glue is just the best. I've been mostly hand tool only for many years, but I finally ditched my circular saw which I used for plywood and outdoor projects. But I decided just to go all in. I have some 8/4 cherry to cut this weekend and I'm a bit anxious about it.

I’m back to woodworking after more than a year without a shop. During the long transition to move to a new home, I got rid of my remaining power tools. I’m now a 100% hand tool shop for my projects. Started out by making a box out of scrap pine to warm up after such a long hiatus. I’m rusty!
