💾 Year 2024: Outlook Calendar still doesn’t support “Cancel future occurrences”. The workaround is to update the invitation with an end date and confuse everyone. One should not change history. Old man yells at cloud.

@eviltrout Seems you got quick support on the line and first character selection! About the main issue, perhaps some shenanigans with mouse signals could be a good enough compromise? E.g.:

func _on_mouse_entered() -> void:
    print("Mouse entered")

    if Input.is_mouse_button_pressed(MOUSE_BUTTON_LEFT):
        select_all()

🎮 I got a Rog Ally (Z1E) a couple of months ago. And I’m loving it. Between a house move and cottage trips, it’s seen a surprising amount of use. You need to know what you are getting into, though. UX, battery, performance have drawbacks - it’s not a PC Switch. Right expectations = great experience!

💾 Many exciting and deeply technical news from WWDC… But you know what simple usability improvement I’m excited about - native window tiling in Sequoia, with keyboard shortcuts. We’ve suffered for so long. Rectangle did wonders but it had its hiccups.

@jdm The same idea crossed my mind recently. Playing the devil’s advocate - people without children have higher disposable income than otherwise - this could compensate unpaid leave. Also from societal perspective, investing for the care of future task payers has higher return. That said, I do believe there is a strong point to consider here and improve on, as demographics are changing.

The beauty of a more diverse and expanded EU 🇪🇺 is that it smooths the distribution in the parliament away from the extremes.

Well said and yet I’m concerned we are approaching a tipping point. The exact same “inertia” that is helping now would make turning around harder…

📓 Helsinki has nature even close to the heart of the city. As I’m enjoying one such oasis, what is not seen in a photo is noise pollution. You can always hear the monotonous grind of the roads. I wonder if we’ll ever solve this problem in the future.

@JohnPhilpin Feedbin has integration with Micro.blog. Posting and, if I'm not wrong, replying. IIRC, though, one couldn't easily navigate to the full conversation and this bugged me a lot. Unfortunately, I understand all this takes extra effort from developers to create and maintain.

@JohnPhilpin I'm not familiar with OPML - does it support similar concept as folders, i.e. the grouping? If yes, there is still hope!

As to better sync and having a "hub" - I get you. For the longest time I used Feedbin, but ultimately decided to make Readwise my hub. Lack of feed folders kept me on the edge for a year, but the official sync with Obsidian is what converted me.

Btw, first impressions from the folders feature are good! Many views I had were automatically converted to folders. However, a few that had fancier queries such as "published__after" remained as views.

💾 Readwise Reader has a new feature of note. I’ve been looking forward to it so much, that I’m almost a bit anxious to check it out. Posting this and heading over to the web app.

📁 RSS Folders on Web – You can now organize your RSS feeds into folders and pin individual feeds to the left sidebar resulting in a more traditional feed reading experience.

💾 There is some friction for me entering text in my Obsidian notes across devices. I’m dialling back to basics to see if I’ve overcomplicated it myself.

  • No line numbers
  • No vim mode
  • No Live Preview

In the process, I’ll also lean in the macOS built-in shortcuts for editing and navigating text.

💾 While there is disappointment about platforms striking training data deals with AI vendors, I think we see the writing on the wall. If companies don’t make such agreements, AI will be trained on public data anyway as it’s been so far. At least formal deals work against the fair use defense.
