Tolstoy's writing on anarchism is through a religious lens—that's a plus for me but may not be for everyone (though his take on religion is to believe in the Sermon on the Mount but not in miracles, so it has potential to frustrate lots of people). I also highly recommend Walkaway if the other two seem up your alley.
@KimberlyHirsh it's the main reason I drain grease into a can instead of pouring it down the drain (though the plumbing benefits are a perk, too)

@lukemperez To be fair, it is a hassle for everyone to have to extend school at the end of the year when you miss enough days, so I don't blame them for trying to avoid that. But yes, this feels performative, and I think a day off makes more sense.

@ner3y I've tried Streaks (probably technically the best), HabitRPG (fun but sometimes rickety), and Finch (more of a self care app, which I like, but can be repurposed for habit tracking).

@lukemperez I'm interested in your example because "Irishness" is clearly not a natural distinction either. Even if we can demonstrate that Irish people tend to share certain biological characteristics, what defines Irishness is going to be arbitrary social and cultural identity markers.
@lukemperez But if the signals for gender inclusivity (in this case, makeup and jewelry) have nothing to do with biology, then the distinctions we're making can't be naturally determined.

@JohnPhilpin My students tend to link to files stored in the cloud instead of attaching those files to their emails, and it confuses me some. Someone on Mastodon said this might be a function of Microsoft moving folks in that direction.
