Jake Blount at St. Georgeโ€™s, Bristol on Friday 21st June 2024.

Jake Blount (banjo, fiddle), Gus Tritsch (guitar, banjo), Nelson Williams (bass)

Brilliant and entertaining evening ๐Ÿ™ ๐ŸŽต

A musical trio performing on stage in a dimly-lit venue with colorful lighting. The three musicians are playing different instruments, including a banjo and a double bass, with a backdrop featuring architectural elements lit in red and green. A black and white photo of a live music performance featuring three musicians. The setting includes an ornate stage backdrop with classical architectural details. The band consists of one person playing an electric guitar, another playing an upright bass, and a third singing Three musicians perform on stage in a dimly lit venue. One plays an electric guitar, another stands by a double bass, and the third plays a violin. The backdrop features large, illuminated artwork and colorful lighting. An audience watches the performance.

Instead of the usual one 1ยผ hrs it took us over 2ยฝ hrs to drive to Bristol last night - delays leading up to the Brynglas Tunnel and an accident on the Severn Bridge ๐Ÿ˜”

But it was made worthwhile by fish and chips at The Hatchet Inn and my first visit to St. Georgeโ€™s. An impressive venue.

Black and white image of a neoclassical church with tall columns and a domed bell tower. The church is at the top of a long flight of steps, bordered by trees and an iron fence. Black and white photo of a stone stairway and railings, surrounded by trees and historic buildings. A sign reads Welcome to St George's Bristol. The scene also includes iron railings and a lamp post. A black and white photograph of a historical church featuring prominent columns and a dome. A streetlamp stands in the foreground, and lush foliage surrounds the church. A person is seated on a bench near the pathway leading to the church. The sky is cloudy.

@toddgrotenhuis I think you need to go to the Threads.net Settings -> Account -> Website Permissions and accept the Micro.blog Invitation.

That cleared the error for me.

@manton Would like to try cross-posting - my Threads username is thedimpause

Lankum: If microphones are put in front of us, we are going to talk about Gaza

โ€œI think that if you have a platform,โ€ Peat says, โ€œand you donโ€™t use it to speak what you believe about this, then itโ€™s a waste of a platform. I also think that having a platform to only promote your music or yourself doesnโ€™t sit very well for me. Itโ€™s horrendous whatโ€™s happening and if microphones are put in front of us, weโ€™re going to talk about it. Itโ€™s really that simple.โ€

@JimRain Superb! I learnt a lot about Aneurin Bevan that I did't know and really enjoyed the production and the performances of the cast.

@writingslowly What electoral fraud? And any evidence of fraud that I have seen mentioned with any evidence has been related to postal voting rather than in person.

A total of 9 cases of alleged personation fraud were recorded by police forces in 2023.

(that was 2 in person, 6 postal and 1 proxy)

@odd No, not for us, now all voters definitely need a valid form of photo ID for most UK elections.

@ridwan Yes, me too. I'm sure the turnout for these local elections would be disappointingly low, even without any extra barriers to the ease of voting ๐Ÿค”

@adam Definitely should have kept hold of the land rights!

@numericcitizen I've used the ApolloOne image viewer for this sort of thing. But only the free version - it also has two subscription tiers and reasonable perpetual licenses, plus a free 14 day Pro trial. I've not needed it enough to buy the full version ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@crossingthethreshold Looks great from their website and I'm always a fan of tapas! I'll keep it in mind next time we're in Bristol.

@crossingthethreshold Thank you! Yes, it's on Apsley Road, Clifton. They've got a restaurant on College Green too - also closed on Mondays by the look of it ๐Ÿ˜ž

@maique That too! But it does say Real Magic under the Coca Cola logo on the tram. Too subtle ๐Ÿ˜„

@z428 @maique ๐Ÿ‘ Only disappointment is that the actual Magic in the picture has blurred in the upload compression - it's quite clear in my photo library ๐Ÿซค

@jean Yep, unlucky scheduling! ๐Ÿ˜”

@manton Canโ€™t believe itโ€™s not a Microblog sticker! ๐Ÿ˜‰

@maique Thanks! Definitely from the archives - taken with an iPhone 4S ๐Ÿ˜„

@adam I really enjoyed it - an intriguing series of conversations/stories and I found her writing style very easy to read. I would like to get to the rest of the trilogy but first Iโ€™ve got her novel Second Place in my pile of books to be read!
