It was nice to complete another run today in better temperatures now that the weather is finally improving. My son decided to bike along with me during this run. We had good conversations while running as this was a long-run exercise at a slow pace and low heart rate. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

Olympics!!!

Time to watch everything!

I’ve been having fun watching the athletes on TikTok roaming Paris and sharing their lives with us.

More athletes need to put their country / event n their bios so I can find them and cheer them on.

Watching Rugby now. Fiji is FAST! πŸƒπŸ’¨

This was my fourth run of the week from my five scheduled runs. I will take one or two rest days now, with probably some easy biking, before I do the final run of the week. The goal is to keep progressing during our holiday weeks, and until now, that is going well. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

I made good use of the hill towards our hotel by completing a 21-minute hill workout. This was tough on my body, and I’m curious to know what the folks at the pool are thinking of me right now. I will add to this run now with a 30-minute recovery run. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

What a joy this running on the island of Jersey is. I just completed a 25-minute recovery run along the coastline, ending the run by running up this beautiful hill. In the next 30 minutes, I will continue my way up before heading back to our hotel. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

Yesterday I noticed pain in my achilles tendon, so I decided to replace some running by cycling. I recorded using a triathlon app on my watch. Two things went wrong. I accidentally wiped the activity, but, worse, I underestimated the bike ride and the heat. It was too long and too fast. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

Today was supposed to be a recovery day, but it ended up being a good day for a long run. I saw some beautiful British scenery along the way. I am changing my schedule because of tomorrow’s weather prediction. It will likely rain all day, and I prefer running in dry weather when possible. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

I completed a 25-minute Fartlek exercise on Torquay Boulevard. The run went well, both pace-wise and recovery-wise, due to a good night of sleep. Tomorrow will be a recovery day, as I will try to complete a long run here on Saturday. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

Today, we drove for three hours from London to the southwest coast of England. Once the family settled in our apartment here, I went out for a short run to stretch my legs. Running is fun here compared to home, as small hills are everywhere. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

Another fun morning run around the lake. Gorgeous weather after last nights rain. This zone 2 running is hard, I would have to run even slower and probably more often. Currently more of a zone 4 runner πŸ˜¬πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

I’ve been wearing β€œbarefoot” shoes for jogging for a few years now, and decided to try these Xero H-Trail running sandals. Wore them this AM on a 3km jog on various surfaces, and they worked well even in the rain. The key was to not grip the toe post too much and to stay relaxed. πŸƒ

Got did done an 11 mile run this weekend, my longest continuous run since before the recent injury and race drama. On the one hand it felt pretty solid physically, on the other I feel like I’m still battling the nagging voice in my head going β€œno no no” on a loop. It’s confusing. πŸƒ

I’m looking for inspiration by following marathon runners on Strava. Got discouraged by a member of my T&F club, who claimed she could run a marathon on 27 km per week as a base, because she wasn’t able to put in the time. Alas, she’s not the only member who lost respect for the marathon.

Back to 6 mile mid-week runs in my current marathon training bid. I’m also letting myself run β€œfast for me” on my other, shorter runs. I have felt tired and weirdly demotivated lately; and yet, these last two runs felt real nice. Guess we’ll see how I feel during Saturday’s planned 11 miler… πŸƒ

Tuesday morning is my running morning. I greatly enjoy being on the track at 7 AM for interval training.

I completed a 12x60-second interval with 60 seconds of recovery in between. The total distance covered today, including warming up and cooling down, is 7.5 kilometers. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

It will be ten easy kilometers for me this Sunday morning. I aimed to keep my heart rate as low as possible, which worked out fine. I joined my wife in walking home for the last two kilometers, which was an excellent cooling-down exercise. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ

It’s time to recover from last Sunday’s 25k run. For that to happen, I went out for a 5k recovery run this morning, averaging at a pace of 7:30 per kilometer. Being that patient pace-wise isn’t easy for me, although I know it’s better for my body in the long term. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€βž‘οΈ My complete 2024 runlog is docume... schoonens.social
