Favorite aunt points secured! My nephew is truly psyched to have the Playdate I bought at #xoxofest. 🎉 (Even my dad is curious.)
A fun way to celebrate the last evening before school starts. On his first-day questionnaire, he listed “coding” is at the top of his top five things he wants to learn.
I ended up with the Eldest Attendee badge. I thought I’d find an eligible recipient at the karaoke party, but I guess everyone older than me went home to bed. So I did too.

Eldest attendee. 🏆 It’s like a game of tag—you have to find someone older than you to hand off the tag at #xoxofest. Here’s @kentbrew@xoxo.zone who is just a little bit younger than me.
I haven’t been able to hang out at XOXO as much as I had planned, but I did manage to buy a Playdate at the Arcade the first night. This will be going to my nephew, who loves to make games. I’m always looking for an edge in the favorite aunt sweepstakes. (Not that it’s a competition…)

Looking at the sand bar where the gulls and pelicans like to hang out at low tide, I noticed a new guest at their beach party. (Otters are super rare here.)
Not my best photos in terms of composition (car-tography has its limits), but the subject matter was A+++.
On my way home this morning from the beach, I came across two pairs of elk locking horns in someone’s front yard. 😮
Evidence of a tiny leak in my right boot. I ordered a new pair. They are my most favorite footwear right now. I’m going to guess that they are not rated for long stints immersed in seawater. I will be careful to rinse them daily.
Lion’s mane jellies, 2 ft in diameter or even bigger. Several of them on the beach the last few days 😳

Today’s wave video features the first great blue heron I’ve seen on the beach. I saw one last year on Nehalem Bay. (video + photo)
Sunrise provided a kind of spotlight on the heron, which looks cool.
Today was a long busy day, but I’m glad I still got out early to see what the beach looked like today. From this morning’s walk.

The mountain is blocked by a cloud, but above there’s still sky and sunset-colored clouds visible.
I made a quick trip into town to meet up with two members of my writing group. It’s so nice to see people in person after almost a year of meeting on Zoom. ❤️

I’ve been distracted by family visits, and neglecting my contributions to the Pacific Wave Appreciation Society. From tonight, an interesting sunset.
