“The perils of audience capture”?

I guess *we’ve* been captured …

https://youtube.com/watch?v=HkGjoRPpWqA

@leaverou Congrats, that sounds amazing! 👏😊

Wird echt langsam Zeit, dass Schrei nach Liebe mal auf TikTok trendet. Als Beitrag zur Allgemeinbildung sozusagen.

Oh, that seems to be a somewhat popular painting. 🧐

A large crowd in front of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre museum in Paris

@mattrambles Yes, to get to the hotel. I knew what to expect (kind of) but it was still something else… 😆

@vdvestelle It might sound weird, but I actually enjoyed it! 😁 So no and no. But maybe I was just lucky 😆

@matuzo Montmartre doesn’t disappoint, either. 😁

The front of a bar called Le Pompon with the signs written in the Lobster typeface

@bkastl Haha, WE MISSED IT SOMEHOW! 😂

I just drove through Paris. With the car. AMA. 😁

@stevegis_ssg This is amazing, Steve! 🤩 Thank you so much!

@stegrainer Thank you! I’ll add the Musée d’Orsay to the list. ☺️ And as we are staying in Montmartre, Sacré-Cœur will be unavoidable 😁

@seindal Oh, nice! I like arcs. They are so … triumphant.

@koehnlein Yes, I also heard they added lights to the tower to make it more interesting. 🙄

@PavelASamsonov Thanks for the tips, Pavel! The Centre Pompidou is on our list. With two kids, we need to carefully balance the amount of museums we visit, but we’ll try to see as much as possible. 😅

The relaxed part of our summer vacation ends tomorrow (😭) and we’ll head to #Paris (😍), where we’ll stay for three days.

Anything interesting to see there? Any tips? I heard they have a nice tower… 🗼😁

@SaraSoueidan Yes, I’ll do that! 🤗 I’m still trying out a few options. And I’m also a bit limited as I’m on vacation in France and didn’t take the Mac with me. 😅 I think I might use a combination of IFTTT with Buffer and @robb‘s https://echofeed.app in the end…

Just testing cross-posting from my site’s /microblog section to Buffer to Mastodon … only?

@sarajw @MoritzGiessmann I would like to make posting certain stuff, like new newsletter issues or links, more efficient. And yes, to reach people where they are (but not on the network that shall not be named, of course 😁). Not sure if Buffer is the right solution. Ideally, it is all automated and coming from my own site…

Works just fine! 😁

Just testing cross-posting from Buffer to Mastodon, Threads, and Bluesky … 🪄✨

@kbroaders Hld to hear it was helpful! 😁🙌

Defeating both PSG at home and Real on a magical night at Bernabéu – as a #VfB Stuttgart supporter, this will be a #ChampionsLeague season to remember… 😁👏

@sarajw The research I did for the talk is the only reason I knew many of the features … 😁

🤓 #CSS

(Take the survey to beat that score… 😉)

A screenshot of the survey summary showing a features score of 41 of 60 used and 19 of 60 heard-of CSS features, which puts me in the top 4 % of respondents.

Here’s your reminder that the State of CSS survey 2024 is still open!

If you write CSS, regardless of your skill level, consider taking the survey.

Not only is it an important trend indicator of the web community but it’s also a great way to let browser makers know what we all care about collectively and in which direction the platform should evolve!

“I think it’s worth listening to anything Sara Soueidan has to say. That’s especially true if she’s speaking at an event for the first time in four years, which was the case when she took the stage at #CSSDay 2024 in Amsterdam.”

@matuzo La Vendée does not disappoint! 🧐😁🥙🦞

The sign of a kebab place called Royal Bosphore with the words kebab, tacos, and burgers written in the Lobster typeface.

This is simply amazing, Teenage Engineering! 😍

“The EP-1320 is the first of its kind: featuring a large library of phrases, play ready instruments and one-shot samples from the darkest of ages, the instrumentalis electronicum is the ultimate, and only, medieval beat machine.”

@davatron5000 Excellent idea! Go for it! 😁

Newly reinvented as a variable font, it is far more versatile than ever before.”

💡 Time for a new survey: What is the best #web #hoster for small to medium web projects in 🇩🇪/🇪🇺 in 2024?

My shortlist at the moment:

Does anyone have experience with lima-city (https://www.lima-city.de) and Hostinger (https://www.hostinger.de)?

James Dyson created 5.126 failed #prototypes before inventing the Dyson vacuum cleaner.

To be honest: when it comes to durability, our Dyson vacuum cleaner still feels like one of those prototypes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re Mozilla’s (unnecessary?) new logo:

Me: “What do you think? What does this look like?”

7-year-old: “A rotated broken M? A flag? A … duck? An ostrich!?”

That logo works really well, obviously … 😬😂

The new Mozilla logo that looks like a stylized flag that also is supposed to look like a dinosaur’s head

I’m now starting a new web design project and will once more put my current #CSS #structure to the test. Does it still work or do I have to change something in 2024? 🤔

How do you structure your CSS?
